A six-inch diameter pipe strut connects to each existing steel column using a fully welded stiffener plate in the column webs. The connection is welded to the flange of the existing column and aligned with the beam centerlines. A five-sixteenths inch typical fillet weld secures the assembly with work points located at the centerline of the column.
