Steel bar joists span across a supporting steel beam sized per the roof framing plan. Angle braces measuring 4x4x1/4 inches attach to each joist using 3/16 inch fillet welds with a field weld symbol. A six-inch wood nailer matches the beam flange width between the bar joists and fastens with 7/8 inch diameter weld studs spaced at 12 inches on center staggered with a countersink of one inch maximum depth. Additional notes specify that angle braces are welded to the beam after the roof installation, brace locations coordinate with sprinkler pipes, and braces must not locate further than 6 inches from the top chord panel point unless an auxiliary web is installed.
