A skewed steel beam connects to a supporting girder or column using a vertical shear tab welded to the support and bolted with three bolts to the beam web. The top and bottom flanges of the skewed beam are coped and trimmed back to clear the support face with a one-inch gap. Bolt spacing is set at three inches on center, with one-and-a-half-inch edge distances. Dimensions indicate a six-inch dimension across the connection region.
