A glulam column is integrated directly within a partition wall framed by three-and-five-eighths-inch steel studs and faced with five-eighths-inch gypsum wallboard on both sides. The timber column is designed with a forty-minute char allowance on all four sides as per structural plans. Two-and-five-eighths-inch gypsum wallboard layers wrap the column profile. A nine-and-one-quarter-inch paint-to-paint dimension is maintained across the wall assembly.
