A typical kicker connection joins a diagonal angle brace and a supporting steel beam beneath a concrete and metal floor deck assembly. An L3x3x3/8 diagonal brace connects from each outrigger to the top flange of the nearest steel beam, skewed as required for alignment. A 1/4"x6"x0'-6" weld plate attaches to the diagonal brace, secured with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld to the beam. Alternatively, the contractor may provide a bolted connection using two 7/8" diameter A325 bolts instead of the field weld.
