A column bears on a base plate secured to a concrete footing, surrounded by a concrete slab-on-grade. Thick polyfoam wraps the column base through the slab depth, with the top half-inch removed after twenty-eight-day concrete strength and filled with sealant. The top surface of the concrete footing is roughened to one-quarter-inch amplitude. Slab dowels match the slab reinforcement and include standard hooks when development length is less than required. This anchorage detail applies exclusively to non-braced frame columns, while braced frame anchorages are detailed elsewhere.
