A wood beam sized per plan connects to a vertical wood post using a Simpson ECC connector secured with machine bolts. A knee brace consisting of a two-and-a-half by two-and-a-half by three-sixteenths inch steel angle frames diagonally between the post and the beam. The brace is fastened using three half-inch diameter machine bolts at each connection point.
