A structural beam frames into a column using a three-eighths-inch minimum gusset plate. Complete joint penetration welds connect the web and top and bottom flanges to the plate. Three erection bolts secure the connection during assembly, supplemented by welds on three sides. Minimum clearances of one inch and two inches are maintained around the connection interface.
