Cold-formed steel framing members feature standardized web punchouts with strict dimensional limits for service penetrations. The diamond-shaped stud punchout allows a maximum height of two and one-half inches and a maximum length of four and one-half inches. The slotted factory punchout requires a minimum edge distance of ten inches from the bearing condition and a twenty-four inch minimum spacing between penetrations. Overall member depth is maintained at a minimum of eight inches.
