A structural steel beam connects over a transverse support beam using a bolted shear plate and a top plate sized per the beam flange dimensions. The top plate is left unwelded directly over the transverse beam. Five-sixteenth inch fillet welds attach the plates, with a cope detail specified at the bottom flange. Erection bolts are provided as required per plan.
