An HSS8x8 hollow structural section column attaches to an elevator pit wall and slab on grade using a 3/4-inch steel plate secured by two 5/8-inch diameter Simpson Titen-HD screw anchors with 4 3/4-inch embedment. The vertical member maintains a typical one-half-inch clearance from the wall assembly. Welds sized at one-quarter inch connect the steel framing components typical at specified locations.
