A five-inch concrete housekeeping slab sits atop a structural slab on metal deck, with sizing and location coordinated per the mechanical contractor. Number 4 reinforcing bars are centered in the housekeeping pad in each direction at twelve inches on center. The housekeeping pad is anchored to the structural slab below using number 4 dowels set with epoxy at twenty-four inches on center each way, starting layout six inches from the edge of the slab. Slab reinforcement is tied to the dowels, and dowels are installed in the center of the metal deck flutes. At the contractor's option, the epoxy dowels may be replaced with number 4 bars cast directly into the slab.
