A structural steel brace connects to the underside of a horizontal beam via a three-eighths-inch gusset plate welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typical. A working point is located at the mid-depth of the beam aligned with a three-eighths-inch stiffener plate at each face of the beam web. A one-half-inch by fourteen-inch by seven-inch top plate is secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter high-strength bolts.
