An empty hollow structural section post connects to an existing steel deck using through bolts extending down to a bottom angle assembly. The through bolts clamp the base plate of the post through the existing steel deck and structural member. Temporary fasteners by others are provided at the lower flange. An L4x4x1/4 angle is placed at each bolt pair for bearing support beneath the deck.
