Multiple circular slab openings are grouped within an effective opening boundary when the clear spacing between them is less than three times the opening diameter. The effective opening is defined by the rectangular perimeter encompassing the individual circular voids. Each effective opening requires one number four reinforcing bar as a trim bar placed around the entire perimeter. These trim bars must extend one foot six inches beyond the effective opening on each side. Diagonal reinforcing bars are not required for these specific conditions.
