A rigid steel moment connection ties a W18 beam to a supporting column. The beam flanges feature complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom, reinforced per structural drawings. Shear plates welded to the column web connect to the beam web using two vertical rows of five bolts on each side. Fillet welds secure the shear plate to the W21 web as specified per plan. This configuration provides both moment and shear transfer for structural framing systems.
