A hollow structural section member is oriented on the flat and welded to an embed plate with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. The embed plate measures one-half-inch thick and is secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter by four-and-one-half-inch long headed studs embedded in concrete. A vertical hollow structural section column is connected adjacent to the assembly per elevation requirements with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. Typical two-inch dimensions locate the fasteners and plates relative to the centerline.
