A structural steel wide flange beam bears against and connects to a concrete wall. An embedded steel plate measuring 3/8 inch by 9 inches by H, anchored with two rows of three-quarter inch diameter by five-inch headed studs spaced at six inches on center horizontally, is cast flush with the concrete face. A 3/8-inch by 4-inch plate with erection bolts in horizontal slotted holes connects the beam to the embedded plate. A five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld secures the connection at the top and bottom with a 2 1/2-inch return, while typical one-quarter-inch fillet welds are provided elsewhere. The top of the embedded plate is aligned to match the top of the beam.
