A W18 steel beam bears directly onto a concrete column via a 1/2-inch by 10-inch by 0-foot-10-inch embed plate anchored with four 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch welded headed studs at a 5-inch gauge. A diagonal bottom flange bracing member is aligned to the column centerline and connected to the beam web. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the assembly components.
