A construction joint forms the boundary between a first placement and a second placement of concrete over a metal deck with a concrete topping slab. The joint features a split form that allows welded wire reinforcement to extend continuously through the interface. An edge radius is provided to locate the sawcut, which is executed to a maximum depth of one-half inch while ensuring the reinforcement remains uncut. The joint is then filled with a suitable filler material.
