A schedule 40 pipe sleeve passes through the center third of a reinforced concrete beam supporting a concrete slab. Additional stirrups of the same size as adjacent beam stirrups are placed with one inch of clearance on each side of the pipe. Beam penetrations require prior review and approval by the structural engineer.
