A wide-flange steel column is anchored to a concrete foundation using anchor rods embedded to a minimum depth per the structural schedule. A base plate sits above the top of the foundation, supported by leveling nuts typically located beneath the plate. Non-shrink grout is placed under the base plate and above the top of the foundation, extending up to the top of the concrete slab on grade.
