A reinforced concrete slab on grade bears on a vapor barrier placed over a leveling course of fine-grained aggregate. The leveling course sits on a minimum six-inch base course of sandy gravel, crushed rock, or approved open-graded aggregate supported by undisturbed soil. The base course thickness is increased as required by the geotechnical engineer and compacted to 100% plus or minus 5% of modified Proctor maximum density per ASTM D1557.
