A steel beam frames into the web of a wide-flange column. A one-half-inch thick cross plate or continuity plate is welded top and bottom to the column flange using a three-sided weld, with a complete joint penetration weld option for restricted access. The beam connects via connection plates secured with double rows of bolts on each side of the column. A sloped beam condition is accommodated where applicable, and a note instructs the use of thicker plates and deeper connection plates if continuity plates conflict.
