A steel joist bridges across a concrete tilt-up panel joint bearing on embedded steel plates anchored into the concrete panels. Each embedded assembly consists of a 1/2-inch by 12-inch by 1-foot-4-inch steel plate anchored with four 3/4-inch diameter by 5-inch heavy stud anchors and welded connections. The joist bears on an L5x5x3/8 angle measuring 0 feet 8 inches long, equipped with two 1/2-inch stiffener plates and welded with 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch fillet welds. A 4-inch by 3/8-inch plate connects via one 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 bolt placed in a long slotted hole parallel to the tilt-up panel to allow for movement.
