A structural steel carrying beam accommodates mechanical ducts through its web as sized per plan. A three-eighths-inch by twelve-inch steel plate is attached above the penetration opening. A headed stud is attached to the plate to transfer shear loads. Mechanical duct routing is coordinated with the mechanical drawings.
