A typical kicker connection joins a structural steel beam supporting a concrete over metal floor deck and a diagonal brace. An L3x3x3/8 angle brace extends from each outrigger to the top flange of the nearest steel beam, skewed as required. A 1/4"x6"x0'-6" weld plate connects the diagonal brace to the beam top flange, secured with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld or optionally with two 7/8" diameter ASTM A325 bolts. The weld plate is shop or field welded to the beam with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld on each side.
