A wide-flange steel beam connects to a supporting member web using a shear plate and bolts sized per schedule. The bottom flange of the supported beam is coped on one side with a two-inch minimum clearance from the face of the web. The shear plate features a one-half-inch maximum offset from the face of the web, with plate thickness matching the opposite side. Welds are applied to three sides per schedule. Full-height shear plates are used on both sides where noted on plan.
