This structural steel detail shows a wide flange column and beam connection with a diagonal wide flange brace framed into a heavy gusset plate. The gusset plate is one-half inch thick and welded to the wide flange column with complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges. A wide flange beam frames into the column with a type C1 shear connection and complete joint penetration welds at the flanges. The diagonal wide flange brace connects to the gusset plate using one-half inch thick top and bottom plates secured by twelve one-inch diameter A490X bolts. Additional stiffener plates and shim plates are provided as required with typical fillet welds on three sides. A clearance of one inch minimum is maintained at the brace intersection.
