A three-inch expansion joint separates two steel beams carrying metal roof deck and steel joists. Continuous sixteen-gauge bent plates measuring three-sixteenths by three inches by zero-foot-seven inches are welded to the steel beams with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds at twelve inches on center. Bridging is provided by the joist supplier per architectural expansion joint requirements.
