A three-eighths-inch bent plate or angle is positioned below to provide closure for the concrete pour. The vertical leg of the bent plate is extended and bent to form the corner, with the edge plate terminating at the inside face of the column where less than two inches. Beams below are omitted for clarity. Three-sixteenths-inch welds are specified typical on both sides where applicable, joining the vertical leg to the horizontal leg. Additional reinforcing bars are required at concrete fill per sheet S703.
