A wide flange steel beam connects to a hollow structural section steel column using a five-sixteenth inch thick single plate shear tab. The shear tab is welded to the column face and bolted to the beam web with three three-quarter inch diameter bolts spaced at three inches typical. An optional top cope is detailed on the beam flange with dimensions for maximum clearance against the column face. A companion schedule provides the required number of bolts and LRFD capacities for beam sizes ranging from W8 to W30.
