Structural framing and reinforcement required around openings six to twenty-four inches wide in metal deck without concrete fill. An L1-1/2x1-1/2x3/16 angle is installed either above or below the metal deck before cutting the opening, with one-eighth-inch fillet welds applied typically at each flute. A bent plate sized per schedule connects perpendicularly to the wide flange beam supporting the deck assembly. Plug welds of three-quarters-inch diameter spaced at eighteen inches on center secure the bent plate through holes in the assembly. A minimum two-inch bearing is provided at the wide flange beam with a maximum eighteen-inch dimension 'A'.
