An HSS column bears on a baseplate set atop a concrete foundation or footing sized per plan. The column base sits within a concrete blockout having a minimum six-inch clearance on all sides. Number four dowels are spaced at twelve inches on center typically around all four sides of the column. Continuous slab reinforcement or two number five minimum trim bars run through the top of the slab adjacent to the blockout.
