An upper hollow structural section column bears on a lower wide flange column through a three-quarter-inch by ten-inch wide column cap plate. A girder shear plate extends from the face of the upper column up to the cap plate. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the plates with field weld indicators. AISC minimum weld sizes apply.
