A structural column sits on an anchor rod and base plate assembly embedded in second-stage concrete placement over a continuous concrete foundation. The foundation features number 5 reinforcing bars at twelve inches on center each way, top and bottom, with a roughened construction joint at the stem wall. A concrete masonry unit wall with brick veneer and vertical number 5 U-bars at twelve inches on center bears adjacent to the column, separated by an expansion joint. A concrete slab connects to the assembly with non-shrink grout and reinforcing steel sized per plan.
