A wood nailer is fastened to the top flange of a steel beam using seven-eighths inch diameter welded threaded rods spaced at sixteen inches on center. The rods are staggered across the beam flange and countersunk into the wood nailer to a maximum depth of three-quarters of an inch. One rod is placed within nine inches of each end of the nailer and each splice. The nailer width matches the beam flange width, with a minimum two and one-half inch typical spacing for the nailing rows. The nailing pattern varies between two, four, or six lines depending on the required spacing.
