A steel beam frames into a structural column with a grade 50 cap plate matching the column width and beam flange thickness. Grade 50 continuity plates are provided with a thickness equal to half the beam flange thickness, with a one-half inch minimum. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at double bolting locations, with fillet welds indicated at the shear tab connection. Double bolts secure the beam web through a welded shear plate.
