A steel beam bears onto a steel column outfitted with a steel cap plate sized per the column schedule. The beam connects to the column via a beam web stiffener or beam web connection plate on each side, secured with bolts and welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Additional quarter-inch fillet welds secure the cap plate and connection plates.
