A non-bearing concrete masonry unit wall intersects a structural steel beam overhead with a vertical expansion joint. The top-of-wall bond beam stops short of the steel beam where interrupted, utilizing cut block infill and grip stay anchors provided at each course. A five-foot long bond beam is positioned in the first full course below the beam, and vertical reinforcement is added in each cell adjacent to the beam. Top braces are installed at alternate sides of the wall on each side of the beam per typical top brace details. A one-inch minimum clearance is maintained between the top of the wall and the underside of the structural slab.
