All slab reinforcement continues uninterrupted through the construction joint. Slab depth "D" determines the size of the perpendicular reinforcement spaced at twelve inches on center, utilizing number three bars for depths two and one-half inches or less, number four bars for depths between two and one-half and four and three-quarter inches, and number five bars for depths greater than four and three-quarter inches. The metal deck spans in either direction across the joint.
