An HSS diagonal brace frames into the bottom flange of a wide-flange beam via a three-eighths-inch gusset plate. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web aligned with the connection. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size join the gusset plate and brace elements as typical.
