A hollow structural section collector intersection features a new 3/8-inch by 3-inch by 1-foot-6-inch steel plate and a slot splice bar passing through the hollow structural section via a 1-3/8-inch diameter hole. New number 10 reinforcing bars measuring 6 feet long are placed on each side of the hollow structural section. Fillet welds of 5/16-inch size connect the members and plates typically as indicated.
