A tapered steel beam connects at the roof deck edge with a three-eighths-inch continuous bent plate welded to the top flange. A beam web stiffener plate is welded to the supporting steel beam with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld at three to twelve inches typical spacing. Steel decking bears over the beam flange adjacent to the bent plate edge. The tapered steel beam continues inward and is referenced to detail B1 on sheet SF561.
