An HSS stub cantilever connects to a structural column per plan, capped at its outer end with a three-eighths-inch cap plate. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the HSS stub to the column and cap plate on three sides, with a three-sixteenths-inch weld specified at the underside. The main column is sized per plan.
