A buckling-restrained braced frame base plate connection bears on a 3-inch non-shrink grout layer over a concrete footing. The steel column features an A572 Grade 50 square base plate welded to the column web and flanges with complete joint penetration welds, complemented by gusset plates and stiffener plates attached with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Four ASTM F1554 Grade 55 threaded anchor rods with a ten-inch projection above the footing anchor the assembly, complete with double nuts or spoiled threads at the top and leveling nuts at the bottom. Air holes of the same diameter as the anchor bolt holes are provided through the base plate. Additionally, a plate detail measuring one-half by three and one-half inches square is specified at the top and bottom with a one-sixteenth-inch oversized hole.
