A steel beam web is reinforced with a doubler plate centered on a gusset plate and welded with groove welds per AWS D1.8 Clause 4.3 on three sides typically. A main stiffener plate is provided where required per the connection schedule. The doubler plate thickness and length are sized per the structural plans.
