This connection detail joins a steel beam to a supporting member web using a full-height shear plate welded three sides per schedule. The supported beam features a cope on the bottom flange on one side to clear the plate assembly. High-strength bolts fasten the beam web to the shear plate according to the structural schedule. Clearances include a two-inch minimum and one-half inch maximum dimension from the face of the supporting member web.
