A galvanized hollow structural section post is capped with a five-sixteenth-inch plate welded with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld and connected top and bottom to horizontal members per plan. The post sits on a three-quarter-inch by fourteen-inch square plate supported by a ten-inch diameter extra-strong galvanized pipe column. The pipe column features half-inch plate connections to the beam below, reinforced with three-quarter-inch thick plates on three sides using three-eighths-inch partial penetration welds to the base plate. Structural steel angles measuring four-by-four-by-half-inch attach at intermediate points with welding detailed elsewhere, and a canted screen connects as required, verified with architectural drawings.
