A rectangular hollow structural section is positioned concentrically inside a larger circular steel member, tied together with welded headed shear studs. The top and bottom of the inner section feature typical one-half-inch diameter by three-inch headed studs welded to the face. The sides feature typical one-half-inch diameter by five-inch headed studs spanning a one-and-one-half-inch clearance to the outer circular boundary.
